Report about the formative workshop entitled “Establishing the traditions of the scientific research”


Ibn Ghazi center for research and strategic studies in partnership with the research team in applied linguistics of the English department at the faculty of arts and humanities, and with the National School for Arts and Crafts organized a formative workshop about “how to prepare a scientific paper”. The event took place on Thursday, June 4th, 2015.

This workshop was supervised by Dr. AbdelkaderAbou, the head of the department of English at the Faculty of Arts and Humanities in Kenitra, and Dr. Mohammed Larouz, the coordinator of the research team of applied linguistics and teaching of languages at the faculty of humanities in Meknes.
After the opening session supervised by Dr. MoukhtarZemmouri, professor at the National school of Arts and Crafts; the floor was taken by both of the director of the school Dr. MabroukBenhemou and Dr. DrissMakboul the director of Ibn Ghazi Center. After that, the workshop was set off by a presentation of Dr. Abdelkder About the legitimacy of research, its primary questions, its qualitative advantages, its scientific conditions, and its academic constituents.
After the break, the workshop participants sat for a second presentation supervised by Dr. Mohammed Larouz, who showed the stages of building a scientific paper, stressing the importance of methodological tools, and the respect of the rules of scientific research, and detailing the elements of a scientific paper from previous studies, the problematic of the research paper, its questions, hypotheses, design, data collection and their analysis, how to build abstracts, and the method of authentication, ending his presentation by remarking on the common stylistic errors in English made by researchers.
The formative workshop has witnessed a significant presence of diverse students and researchers from Master’s and doctoral cycles of different disciplines, and saw a rich interaction with the content of the two formative presentations. The formative workshop finally ended with the distribution of certificates of attendance.
